Management & Economics of Digital Transformation
University of Zurich
I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Administration and a DSI Professor with the Digital Society Initiative at the University of Zurich. I am also a Research Associate at ZEW Mannheim and a Research Fellow of the CESifo Research Network.
I am an empirical economist focusing on two interconnected areas of today’s digital transformation. My first broad line of research examines how digitization affects markets, consumers, and firms, with a particular focus on the media and content industries. Second, I study the economics of intellectual property, exploring how technological change affects the economic foundations of copyright policy. Across both areas, I aim to generate insights that inform policy design and managerial decision-making.
I currently serve as a co-editor-in-chief for Information Economics and Policy.
I will lead the project "Rethinking Copyright Policy in the Digital Age: Balancing Incentives for Creation and Access" (RECODE), funded by an ERC Consolidator Grant, 2026-2031.
I am the PI of the project "Digitization and the Power of Online Platforms: Measurement and Implications" financed by the Swiss National Science Foundation, 2022-2026.
